Rep. Emmer Reintroduces CBDC Anti-Surveillance Act
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) reintroduced the CBDC Anti-Surveillance Act, which aims to bar the Federal Reserve from issuing a central bank-backed digital dollar. Emmer argued that, "If not designed to be open, permissionless, and private – emulating cash – a government-issued CBDC is nothing more than a CCP-style surveillance tool that would be used to undermine the American way of life." The bill has 50 original cosponsors.
