Zhdanova is a Russian national who used virtual currency to facilitate large cross border transactions on behalf of oligarchs and individuals connected with the Russian Ryuk ransomware group.

DOJ Extradites Serbian Man to US for Crypto Fraud
The Justice Department announced that Kristijan Krstic has been extradited to the US, where he faces two federal indictments for his alleged participation in $70 million cryptocurrency and binary options fraud schemes. Krstic faces indictments in the Northern District of Texas and the Eastern District of New York.

SEC Files Motion of Summary Judgment in Terraform Labs Case
The SEC filed a motion for summary judgment in the agency’s case against Terraform Labs and its co-founder, Do Kwon, stating that the violations are “clear, undisputed, and overwhelming,” and “the Court should grant summary judgment in the SEC’s favor.” The SEC's filing followed a filing from Terraform and Kwon on October 27, arguing that "the SEC has no admissible evidence" to prove that Terraform's tokens are securities, or that it misled investors.

Sen. Brown Reacts to SBF Conviction
Senate Banking Committee Chair Sherrod Brown (D-OH) released a statement reacting to the conviction of Sam Bankman-Fried. Sen. Brown stated that, "This verdict is a victory for everyone fighting fraud and scams in crypto.... Americans continue to lose money every day in crypto scams and frauds. We need to crack down on abuses and can't let the crypto industry write its own rulebook." The statement comes as Sen. Brown recently voiced skepticism about including crypto legislation in the FY 2024 NDAA, expressing concern that the legislation would be essentially written by the crypto industry.

The US Attorney’s Office seized crypto assets worth $54 million from an illegal narcotics distribution scheme based in New Jersey. The Attorney's Office stated that those involved with the scheme conspired to sell various narcotics between 2010 and 2015, and began selling narcotics on darknet sites in exchange for BTC in 2013.
