Changpeng Zhao Ordered to Temporarily Remain in US
US District Judge Richard A. Jones temporarily barred Changpeng Zhao from returning to his home in the United Arab Emirates while the court considers bail conditions. The Justice Department had filed a motion calling for Changpeng Zhao to be required to remain in the continental US before his sentencing hearing on February 23, arguing that he "poses a serious risk of flight." Judge Jones said in an order on November 27 that Zhao's permission to travel home will be stayed while he considers the arguments from federal prosecutors that Zhao should be allowed to stay out of jail, but confined to the US, pending February sentencing.

SEC Still Looking for Fraud at Binance.US
The Wall Street Journal reported that SEC is still looking for evidence that Binance and founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao may have backdoor access to control assets stored on the Binance.US platform. Attorneys for Binance.US reportedly asked US Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui at a status hearing on November 27 to consider putting an end to the SEC's investigation for potential fraud. Binance.US attorney Matthew Laroche argued that "The SEC has no evidence that assets have been misused in any way."

Genesis Sues Gemini to Recover $690 Million
Genesis Global Holdco is suing Gemini Trust Co. to recover nearly $690 million that Genesis says the crypto platform withdrew from Genesis in the months before the company’s Chapter 11 filing in January. Genesis said in a complaint in New York bankruptcy court that the withdrawals made by Gemini were unprecedented and came at the expense of the crypto lender's other creditors.

House Majority Whip Reacts to Binance Settlement
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) tweeted after the Binance settlement was announced, stating that Congress does not need new laws to regulate the crypto industry. He stated that, “successful prosecution shows that when enforced, current laws are suitable to help weed out bad actors,” and “Congress does not need to rewrite laws that work in the crypto space.” He also argued that government resources should be put toward "working to bring more crypto activity and opportunities onshore to bolster US national security."

Bittrex Global to Wind Down Operations
Bittrex Global announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the crypto exchange will wind down operations, with all trading activity on the platform ceasing by December 4. The decision follows the collapse of the exchange's US arm earlier this year as a result of SEC regulatory action.
