US District Judge Richard A. Jones temporarily barred Changpeng Zhao from returning to his home in the United Arab Emirates while the court considers bail conditions. The Justice Department had filed a motion calling for Changpeng Zhao to be required to remain in the continental US before his sentencing hearing on February 23, arguing that he “poses a serious risk of flight.” Judge Jones said in an order on November 27 that Zhao’s permission to travel home will be stayed while he considers the arguments from federal prosecutors that Zhao should be allowed to stay out of jail, but confined to the US, pending February sentencing.
