The US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit rejected a bid by Luiz Carlos Capuci Jr., who is accused of running a fraudulent crypto mining scheme, to lift an asset freeze, ruling that US financial industry regulators did not have to formally serve him before asking a court to block activity in his financial accounts. The panel noted that Capuci started closing bank accounts and liquidating assets and fled to Brazil after the SEC began investigating his company, MCC International Corp., for alleged fraud.
